About Istanbul Time

Istanbul uses Turkey Time (TRT), which is UTC+3 year-round. Turkey permanently moved to UTC+3 in 2016, abandoning Daylight Saving Time and eliminating the seasonal clock change that had previously shifted Turkey between UTC+2 and UTC+3. The result is a fixed offset that is always 3 hours ahead of London in winter and 2 hours ahead during BST.

Borsa Istanbul (BIST) trades from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM TRT on weekdays. Istanbul straddles Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus strait and is Turkey's economic and commercial capital, despite Ankara being the political capital. The city is a major hub for textile manufacturing, logistics, tourism, and finance, and has a significant position in Turkey's relationships with both the EU and the Middle East.

TRT's UTC+3 is shared with Moscow, Nairobi, and Riyadh, linking Istanbul to three very different global centres on the same clock.
