Team Picker Guide

Use the team picker when you need fair, quick selections for classroom teams, workshop roles, games, or practice groups.

Team Picker - Tips & Best Practices

  • Use the name picker for one winner or speaker.
  • Use the group generator when you need complete teams.
  • Shuffle the list before repeated rounds.

Picking Fair Teams from a List

The team picker helps when you need to select a specific subset rather than divide everyone into equal groups. Paste the full list of eligible participants, set how many you need on a team, and pick. This is useful for tournament brackets, selecting a small team from a larger pool, choosing a relay squad, or picking workshop facilitators from all registered participants.

Team Picker Tips

  • Remove picked names after each selection to avoid duplicates across teams.
  • Use the group generator instead when dividing everyone into equal groups at once.
  • Shuffle before picking to avoid any ordering bias in your original list.
  • Save the result before resetting if you need a record of how teams were formed.

Combining With Timers for Team Activities

After picking teams, use an interval timer to rotate groups through stations or a countdown timer to set a time limit per round. For sports practice, pair the team picker with the stopwatch to record team performance over timed blocks.
